My brother yesterday told me of some study that showed that the happiest people in the world are the poorest. At least this means that material possessions or financial security has nothing to do with it.

I took a leadership course once where the instructor emphasized that living life small (focussing on your SELF, what YOU need, what YOU want) is a sure-fire recipe for unhappiness. Orienting your life, on the other hand, towards service to others and making a difference in your community (however you define it) is the secret source of incredible satisfaction and joy.

Maybe we are meant to be lovers of humanity, maybe this is our true destiny and maybe the fact that it brings vast blessings and joy is the dynamic by which we can recognize and gain confidence in this.

What a wonderful lesson. We are so success oriented that we tend to be selfish. Material wealth is not the key to true happiness. Serving others will bring your soul fulfillment and blessings. Thank you for sharing.
